UJS Update October 24, 2021

UJS in our Sixth Week already!

Dear United Jewish School families,

Fall is upon us! As the heat goes on and the summer clothes get packed away, we welcome our week six of UJS!

The United Jewish School has continued to be a space where young Jewish minds are invested, passionate, and joyful as they learn more and more about what it means to be a proud Jew. Some highlights from this week include:

  • The kindergarteners doing a BINGO game as they searched the building for Jewish objects.
  • Our 7th graders had a powerful conversation on last week’s Torah portion of Lech L’cha.
  • Our 9th and 10th graders, in their lesson on world religions, practiced Jewish Yoga, Mindfulness, and Meditation with certified yoga teacher, Corey Dane.
  • After school, parents and children relaxed and schmoozed with painting pumpkins and making their own seasonal lattes for the program “Fall Into Fall.”

Our T’filah is ever-growing. We examined the prayers of Asher Yatsar, Bar’chu, Sh’ma, and Eil Na R’fa Na La. We also learned about the famous Israel singer and Eurovision winner, Dana International. Next week, we hope to add a prayer for peace called “Oseh Shalom.”

Temple Emanuel extends an invitation to all UJS families with young children to join Rabbi Schadick for Tot Shabbat again on November 13 at 10:00 AM.  Come for stories, crafts, songs, and a chance to celebrate Shabbat in an age-appropriate way.  Parents and grandparents are invited to come with their children and grandchildren.

The United Jewish School continues to be a center for growth, belonging, and community. Thank you for trusting us with your children’s Jewish education.

We love to have visitors and volunteers in the classrooms, and or in the sanctuary for T’filah. If you’d like to be a volunteer, please let me know by sending me an email at cantor@unitedjewishschool.org
